Review on Fishtail Mermaid Vintage Ruffled Striped Women's Skirt by Dawn Johnson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Please add 2-3 inches to your actual measurements to determine your size.

The size chart reflects the measurements of the item, not of the person wearing it. Trust the schedule to avoid escalation. Believe me I know and am upset that I bought the wrong size skirt for the gig because I listened to the reviews and I can't exchange it in time because the size I really needed is sold out. Reviews say this skirt is oversized and "down size". That's nonsense. I ordered this skirt in a size XL based on a size chart and review by a "mad granny" who said she bought this skirt in a size XL for her waist measurements of 38.5 and hips of 46.5. 5 feet 3 inches tall. She said she could probably get an L, she would have plenty of room and then left an update that she had ordered a medium size which almost fit and a large which fit but showed her tummy so left XL. My measurements are significantly smaller than hers and I'm 5ft 9in tall. I ordered this particular skirt in size XL because I was short on time and could work with something too big, but not something too small. Well it got here and I can't even start to close it! If it wasn't for the stretch I probably would have torn the seam trying it on. Attached are photos of measurements. As said, measurements are for the garment itself, NOT the body it is designed to fit. Waist: 33 inches, Hips: 42. The difference in hips is probably due to where I measured the length of the skirt. For all practical purposes I believe they are the same. The only way Crazy Granny actually got that XL skirt, let alone a medium or large one, was if she accidentally left a review of another skirt in the wrong place, or she crossed the black hole event horizon. A word of advice for those of you who don't sew, you need about 2-3 inches of space, called "ease," in all horizontal dimensions to allow for the garment to slip on and off easily, for movement of the garment (part of what makes clothing attractive) to allow comfortable and unrestricted physical movement and prevent seams from ripping and fabric tearing due to excessive tension. While tutus are (obviously) EXTREMELY form-fitting (and have a super serious FLEXIBLE corset to provide structure), there's still room for chest expansion (aka "breathing"!). Cheers to breathing! Four-way stretch can be desirable in swimwear, dance/leotards/skating suits, athletic wear, and underwear. when your body changes shape, e.g. B. when you sit down. If you need it to stretch everytime, everywhere at once, IT'S TOO DAMN TOO SMALL, and unless you have a body like the aforementioned ballerina or other physical prodigy who intentionally has enough fat to stay healthy, it is too tight, stretching a garment can only make you look like a lumpy sausage in a body that's too small. This XL skirt is for one person with 31" waist and 40" hips which fits US size 12-14 in good quality. depending on the brand. This is for normal landing and movement. If you prefer a tighter fit, the stretch fabric may (or may not) fit you. To order your size with the ease of two inches, simply add two inches to your measurements and order that letter size from the chart. Of course, the fit ultimately depends on your physique. This skirt stretches well across the body but not much in the waist area. The density of the fabric is significant, it has a good appearance. Also note that the latest sewing patterns from a good brand come in a different size than the clothing size, so do not choose the same size as the sewing pattern size. These measurements are based on the current sample size of 18. Vintage sizing is everywhere. If you have an old sewing pattern, be sure to compare your measurements with those on the sewing pattern or even cut out the main pieces from cheap fabric, make darts and main seams and try them on before cutting the trendy fabric. It will never fail. I was impressed that adult women had a 31 inch bust size. A 31" bust and 33" hips is an adult size 10. Also, make sure you don't need to add any seam allowances. So the style and quality of the clothes are excellent for the price. Don't listen to size ratings, listen to the manufacturer. I can't stress this enough!😡
