Review on πŸ”ͺ Efficient Foamboard Cutting with Logan Graphics FoamWerks W1001 Cutting Kit by Crystal Ford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Okay, not everything I was hoping for.

I misunderstood when I ordered this as I thought the blades were somehow attached to the guide. No, you just need to have a steady hand and be led by a guide. The blades dull fairly easily. You cannot use this on a regular cutting mat. You should have a large piece of styrofoam underneath the piece you want to cut out. I end up using one of these snap-off utility knives more often than the blades that come with it. However, the rail guide is a really good, sturdy piece of equipment. The tongue and groove cutter is interesting, but it often jams, and since the foam core in the magazine tends to shrink, gouging with this cutter is risky because of the uneven width. In my experience, the grooves were larger than the edge of the board going into them. I stopped bothering with the stitching and just did the typical stitching with a needle/glue.

Pros
  • Not only useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Style 90
