These oval gel guards are thick and protective. The adhesive strength is good, but the edges are slightly raised. The instep doesn't matter when my foot is in the shoe. What I really like about these wraps is that I don't feel like I have a bandage on my heel. There is no pinching or anything like that. It helps reduce heel sore occurrences from some types of shoes that irritate me. They are good to have in the first aid kit. To apply, I removed the white piece covering the adhesive and then partially applied the bandage before removing the last tab. The current price of $9.65 ($10.49 minus 8%) for 20 bandages is 0.48 per band at a competitive price.
