I'm not a broke student buying this desk. I'm broke right now. You see, I'm a writer, and a writer needs a desk as much as an imagination. Whether I'm a good writer or not is another matter entirely. So of course I chose this table. Why? Because it's cheap. I read all the reviews and made the mistake of being cautious when buying. I braced myself for the horrors I had to buy and was pleasantly surprised that this table really wasn't that bad. That is, if you're willing to put in a little extra effort to make it last longer. There are screws, wooden pins and locking screws. That's all. You will need a Phillips screwdriver and a hammer. A little extra effort is required here. I also used Gorilla Glue and a cross drill. I want this thing to last a long time. So I loosened up my wallet a bit to buy a (small) bottle of Gorilla Glue to help me build. Every connection, every attachment, every screw gets glue. All this is made of chipboard and plastic with a wood look. Hey, if you want to buy something carved from solid oak, aged and stained to perfection, look elsewhere. You're not building Rome, you're building a one bedroom truck stop on the road to Rome. No, this table will not be perfect. This is an ordinary table; You will definitely get what you paid for if you don't try a little harder. 30 minutes as indicated on the assembly box. With my wood glue it took about 45 minutes. I applied wood glue generously and often. I used a screw drill and a regular screwdriver to take it home. This is chipboard and will break and fall apart with enough force ie drilling too hard. In fact, the hammer is only used for pins on the underside of the table. And maybe save yourself a little frustration if that's your thing. The panels have some semblance of organization as each panel is stamped with the appropriate letters. A, B, C etc. for the assembly aid. 45 minutes later and bam! I had a table with a little problem. he swings Not much, but if I start banging Beethoven on the keys of my MacBook, the table could very well tip over. Hence the 4 star rating, not 5. I made a few mistakes along the way. The plastic bars looked like the bigger ones were on top, but no, they were on the bottom. I accidentally placed an unfinished edge or two facing me; easy to fix. And I may or may not have accidentally taped my hand to the board. More than once. Stop laughing. Apparently, Gorilla Glue is no joke. And no, you don't have to drill your own holes. Then you can do whatever you want again. I'm just an overview. I've added my MacBook 13.3" for scale in case you don't understand the dimensions like I do. Thank you for your attention.
