I had trouble installing my T56 Magnum, other gearboxes have something wrong with T56 accuracy. I spent hours getting the input shaft into the pilot bushing. I got two kinds of advice: ask a friend to help you and get a precision metal alignment tool. After another hour of frustration, I ordered this tool. When this alignment tool arrived, the first thing I tried to do was install it. Attempting to install this tool after leveling with the plastic leveling tool showed me that the plastic tool had failed and was the cause of my frustration. Removing the pressure plate and leveling it with this RAM alignment tool did the trick. This time it felt very centered with no play and held the clutch disc on its own where the plastic alignment tool wanted to slip out and rock again. After using this tool, the T56 installation took a few minutes. I wiggled and twisted the gear slightly and pushed it forward. After aligning the dowel pins, I added the studs, but only by hand. I then pushed the gears in further, tightening the screws with my fingers and repeating this until the gears were seated on the bell body. With these precise tools, you do not need a partner when installing, because if the clutch disc is aligned, it will not slip even with many helpers.
