This OBD device gives you a lot of information about your car. More than a code reader, it gives you lots of information about your gearbox. The newer the car, the more information is available in the OBD port. Gives you the possible reasons for the check engine light coming on so that you are reasonably informed when you take it to the mechanic. You can go online and get a more detailed explanation of the verification code. There is a slight learning curve to learn all modules.
