Review on HP 2009M 20 Inch LCD Monitor with 1600X900 Resolution and Built-In Speakers by Ervin Burgunder

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good and cheap, but not perfect

I finally replaced my CRT monitor with this widescreen LCD monitor. I was VERY pleased with the ease of setup. And I've been pleasantly surprised to see how much more I can see on the many websites that are set up for widescreen. If you currently have a "square" monitor, be aware that the new widescreen model may not be taller than your current monitor. Too bad I didn't get a slightly larger version. (I measured carefully and made a conscious decision to go a little smaller, but if I had to do it again I would go for a larger one!) Looks lovely. He leans forward. I don't notice any reflections on the screen despite having a window directly across from the screen and overhead lights above and in front of the screen. It was disappointing that the contrast (or maybe color depth?) seemed less than my CRT. I fiddled around to get big badges. In the end, I also gave up using images as my desktop background and opted for a plain blue screen where the icons are easier to see. Another reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the limited amount of physical adjustments to the screen. The most notable downside is the inability to raise or lower it. To be honest, adjusting the tilt is enough for me (and you should be looking DOWN at your monitor), but some might find it frustrating. This monitor did what I wanted. This freed up space on my desktop and made it much easier for me to get around on my own without assistance. All in all a winner.

Pros
  • I am very happy with my purchase
Cons
  • badly thought out
