Review on Thomas Plastic Traceable Refrigerator Thermometer by Tim Ram

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Certified Accuracy

Lab-tested and calibrated, this system's design is as good as it gets — at least in layman's terms. My old fridge told me that its temperature in the fridge (38 degrees) and freezer (0 degrees) is kept at the set temperatures. This device showed that the actual temperature was 7 or 8 degrees higher and gradually rising. An 11 year old fridge wasn't worth investing in a new compressor so we bought a new one with a French door and an extra drawer in the middle. With the Thomas thermometer system I then (a few days) tested the new fridge, which passed with flying colors. Thomas' device is similar to the thermometer I use for ribs, for example, with a sensor in the meat that sends temperature information down a wire connected to a sensor outside the oven. Thomas's device told me some things about what was going on in the fridge that I didn't know. I found that the temperature in the door area was about 4 degrees warmer than the rest of the fridge. Our milk is no longer by the door, but in the middle or at the back of the refrigerator, where the temperature is always lowest. I put the thermometer back in the box so we or friends might need it next time. Since this is one of those electronic devices that cannot be used for many years, you should remember to take extra precautions. Remove the batteries before storage. I learned this the hard way when losing expensive equipment due to acid leakage from alkaline batteries that had been stored for too long.
