I love these, I have three of them. Each supports the Sony Handicam and allows me to mount it on any type of mount (within the capacity of the clamp) and set the camera at any angle I want. They are strong and well made and the clips work well. With the exception of the adjustment knob, the device is made entirely of metal. The tension bolt connection is notched to keep it where you put it. I find it useful to put a strip of cloth between the clamp and the object I'm clamping to to avoid damaging the object. The position of the camera and the lever are tightened with a screw. This is convenient when setting up, because you can simply move the camera to the desired position and fix the entire assembly with just one screw. But that also means you can't just adjust the camera position and leave the rest of the build untouched. However, I find this weapon very useful and inexpensive.
