Read all reviews before buying. I replaced old clock radios that didn't have battery backup. I chose this model and after 2 uses I am very satisfied. The key here is knowing how to set it up! I'm also a radio amateur, so I can receive WWV on many frequencies (on my radios) that are used to synchronize atomic clocks around the country. It is broadcast on 2.5, 5, 10, 15, or 20 MHz from NIST in Colorado. You may be in an area where it is difficult to receive WWV on this radio (didn't check what frequency it uses). I changed the settings to use the radio data system "RDS". This is used to convey information about the station and the song being played. MANY stations also broadcast encoded time data that automatically sets the clock. One of the best features of this radio is as follows. You can set an alarm to wake you only on weekends, weekdays, or a combination of both. This saves you having to turn off your alarm clock for the weekend. It also has 2 alarms and you can set them in different ways (buzzer, radio). Each will also LIGHTLY wake you up by cranking up the volume instead of yelling at full volume (nice feature!). Set it up right and it will be a great radio for you!
