Review on Fiskars Amplify 10 Inch Mixed Media Shears, White - Model 171020-1001 by Hannah Curi

Very good scissors, one of the two best Fiskars scissors!

These are very good scissors and I find them very useful. Everything you've read about them is pretty true, but they're not the best scissors Fiskars makes. This award belongs to the 10 inch Heritage Tailor's Shears. I've bought both and tried both and compared them to many other scissors I've bought in the past. On my own I would have thought that Amplify was the best pair of scissors I had. I have ever bought but the Heritage Tailor's Scissors easily outperformed anything I have ever owned or used. For cutting things that might damage the blade they might be a wiser choice than using the Heritage Fine Line, but I'm inclined to use the Heritage 10 inch tailor's scissors for anything. Again, they are excellent and all of their marketing is pretty targeted. However, when you cut very hard and thick materials, you have to make a lot of effort. However, they are much better than cheap scissors. [EDIT] March 2015 - I've been using the Heritage Tailor's Shears AND the Amplify Mixed Material Shears for over 8 months, sometimes with one or the other. I found that the Amplify Mixed Material Scissors actually do what they claim to do, which is to hold together tightly through thick and bulky materials. These scissors are not to be taken lightly. These are very good scissors and if you tend to cut a lot of cardboard and other thick materials they might be your best bet. I still like both models but I'm just learning when to use which model and this pair is best for heavy stuff.

Pros
  • Cutting tools
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
