Review on 🐠 Inkbird C929A: Smart Digital WiFi Temperature Controller for Aquarium Fish Tank- Enhance Aquatic Life with Wireless Thermostat for Reptiles & Terrarium by Elaine Olek

Revainrating 4 out of 5

All I needed was the lake temp via WiFi

I am writing this in case anyone is trying to do the same as me. . I just wanted to know the temperature of the lake via wifi. We're not at the lake during the weekdays so I wanted to be able to see the temperature of the water from a distance to know if it was warm enough for a swim. There aren't many devices on Revain that do this and have a probe. It took me a while to figure this thing out, but now it works like a champ. First, I couldn't connect it to WiFi, and I'm a techie. The only way to get it working was to put it in AP mode and all went well. At first I thought everything was perfect, and then he started turning on the outlet and randomly issuing errors E4 and E5. Remember that two probes are redundant. If one fails, it uses the other. I continued to adjust the temperature and the physical alarm (beep) went off. I didn't want to annoy all the neighbors with a continuous beeping, so I opened it up and pulled the speaker out of the circuit board with needle-nosed pliers. You don't have to! Later I realized that I need to go into the application, press "Power" and select "Pause". This stops output and disables the alarms, but continues to read and report the correct temperature. Yes, I know I'm using it for something it's not strictly intended for, but it cheaply solves my problem. I hope this helps someone else.

Pros
  • Built in dual relays allow you to turn off the power if one of the relays is faulty, preventing overheating
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
