no! Buy a Magic 8 Ball, shake your child with it and ask if they have a fever! The answer will be more accurate than this thing! You must hold the thermometer 1/2 inch from the baby's forehead to get a reading. . . Have you ever tried to freeze a child while holding something in their face? No? What if it glows and squeaks? For the sake of argument, let's assume you have the best baby in the world who will sit perfectly still while you hold this thing in front of his head; How confident are you in your ability to hold the thermometer exactly 1/2 inch from the baby's forehead? A little closer or a little further and the temperature is off. Oh, do you think you would be really smart and take their temperature while they sleep? Look at you; You are a clever little devil! Problem is, this dumb thing beeps really loudly when you turn it on and beeps again when it takes the temperature, plus a few more beeps to be sure. My husband and I decided to do a random scan (and eventually our dog joined us) and it turned out that my navel is warmer than my forehead, but it's hard to say because no 2 (or 3 or 4 ) scans are one and the same area is not the same reading. Seriously, just go and buy the Magic 8 Ball.
