We have it behind the headboard, the connector is so low! It works with a 1000W room air conditioner with power reserve! The USB charging options are also very good. You may need to purchase a longer USB cable. I keep the strip under my bed (out of the way) so the extra length on your USB cables will definitely help with that. The strip itself is compact and lightweight, making it great to travel with. Who knows if you have enough outlets everywhere. Most hotels don't have this, I always carry an extension cord for my phone charger, heating pad and a sleep apnea machine. If I had designed one of these for travel I would be ready!
