My daughter's hair was damp when I curled it. After the curlers were on, I dried them with a hair dryer for about 30 minutes. I left the curlers on for about 3-4 hours. The waves lasted all day. Be sure to watch some YouTube videos as there is a tilt curve when using it. I found a lot of advice on how to put on curlers but not take them off. The first time I tried them on my daughter she almost cried when I tried to pull them out of her hair. I have found that I have to first unwind/straighten the curlers and then remove the straightened rollers from my hair. No more pain!
