I have used more or less identical 2" sanding pads when turning on a lathe and this 3" pad will be a good match for large bowls. Dozens of others under other names and the paper velcro discs seem to work too There is a problem though, the general rule is that you should never skip more than 50% when going to a higher grit, if you want to remove all the scratches from the previous grit: 80 to 120, 120 to 180, 180 to 220 etc. There are two big gaps in this range where it goes from #80 grit straight to #180 grit (125% jump !) and from #1000 to #2000 ( 100%). Me, but this jump is from 80 to 180. Things to consider when comparing sets.
