C-clip not strong enough
The main problem is that the C-clip is not strong enough. You can never get a super tight clamp because as you turn the clamp screw, the true L-shaped clamp mounts will start to flex. With large loads this is a problem. Finally I reinforce with another C-Clip whose job is to stabilize the light post clamp and prevent it from bending.
