My old Turtle Beach AX420's are a bit worn and I saw them coming out so I decided to check them out. A friend of mine has a first gen 700 and has the occasional cracking and sound distortion and figured a gen 2 would fix that. NO! Took them out of the box and I have to say they are EXTREMELY comfortable; Super soft foam that just sinks in and lets air through. I hooked it up to the Xbox and immediately crashed. The first problem right in front of the goal is the microphone. Everyone in the party chat has told me that if I speak above a whisper it just distorts the audio and you can't hear me at all. Moved the arrow right in front of where it automatically cut off and the normal conversational voice was fine, but anything louder caused the same cuts as he was overstimulated. Walking past the mic, it was obvious something was wrong with this series, which is easily interfered with by external wireless devices. My router is over 10 feet from the Xbox and even further from my seat. It didn't matter, there were intermittent audio distortions (pops and crackles) replacing the audio from the game and group chat. As with the old series, my buddy told me Turtle Beach customer service just says remove the router and try again. Nobody should pay such a high price for a headset to rearrange their home. Sent back after 2 days.
