Fantastic fit and the most valuable thing about this piece of gear is that it's relatively easy to put on and tighten and doesn't move much even when running. However, the price is prohibitive (I bought mine for $160) for what it offers. You pay a huge premium just to be able to run with a pack that fits snugly against your skin without chafing or moving too much. So if you need it badly for something like trail running (I use a backpack for that) then it might be worth it for you, but I'd say it's more for the competitive market of serious runners than simple weekend warriors. Using the Salomon Adv 12 is a bit tricky in some cases as there are many different laces everywhere and the occasional hidden pocket that is not immediately visible or immediately intuitive to use and requires a link to an online manual. I used the backpack for a couple of weeks before figuring out what some of the features do. Also, the rear hydration pack pocket is very narrow and small and pretty much requires the use of Salomon's own hydration chambers, which in my experience are subpar in quality. . My Platypus 1.5L did not fit in the Salomon vest which was very disappointing as Platypus is a quality hydration bladder especially when compared to Salomon. In order to be able to use my Platypus 1.5L Hydration Backpack, I had to forgo using the rear storage compartment of the Salomon vest as a rain cover and instead stow a hydration bag there, which was far from ideal for carrying enough water. on hot (30*c+/90*f+) summer hikes, which immediately make me sweat most of the water. Speaking of sweat, Salomon Adv 12 absorbs sweat quickly and is not machine washable. This requires hand washing, which is painful and not always effective. So the thing stinks almost permanently after just a few sessions and you have to spend a lot of time washing it to get rid of the stench of use. If you are a competitive runner and want every inch of the edge then this Salomon Adv 12 vest might be worth it. It's definitely a great fit and offers extra storage space that you wouldn't otherwise have. For someone like me who doesn't exceed 6-12 miles day hike and trail runner, it wasn't worth the cost and I'll probably go back to a regular, slim fitting hiking pack once it wears out. I was very disappointed. As this vest received a very high review but other than its snug, adjustable fit I felt it didn't offer enough value for the price I paid.
