I didn't want my rabbits to have hay in a mess as they don't like haystacks. I feel like it definitely keeps the hay free from contamination. I also like the high sides because they hold their little asses. If you have a small bunny this would be ideal, but it's almost too small for my Dutch dwarf bunny and definitely too small for my other bunny. There is also a 1″-1 1/2″ ledge on the rim that collects urine, which was definitely a downside. If the slatted floor went to the sides it would be better, but the lip gets soiled with urine and needs to be cleaned more often because it stinks.
