I was skeptical about ordering this filter in place of the original Insinkerator filter but it worked like clockwork! Our water heater had burned out and stopped working - I ordered a new one from Revain (thank goodness the price has come down!) On installing the system we found the cause of the initial problem with instant hot water - the line from the water supply to the filter was broken completely clogged! Yes, you really need to replace this filter as directed! If the water is hard, when changing the filter, make sure to check all the supply lines back and forth to make sure they are free of limescale deposits.
