We needed a new blender. I regularly use one about 3 times a week for two purposes: thick smoothies (no ice) and making hummus. My husband talked me into giving my all and getting this set and I felt like a chump as soon as it turned up. For real? Our family of 2 needs 2hp to make smoothies and hummus? But after using it I am very satisfied. Easily handles THICK smoothies in a disposable bowl, and the processing bowl made two cups of great (again) THICK hummus in just two scrapes. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 simply because I don't know how it will hold up over time. Here's what you want to know: YES, it's easy to clean. The single serve is like a traditional blender, with a blade underneath so your smoothie gets it all, but the jug and food processor have smooth sides and blade spindles that are fully removable. However, the lid keeps the spindle and **amazingly sharp** blades in place, so keep that in mind when pouring your wares out of the pitcher or bowl; Remove the spindle or leave the lid closed and use the spout. You are also happy about a small bottle cleaning brush under the disposable blades. DO NOT USE LANGUAGE. QUALITY: Containers are made of plastic, very durable and smooth (see cleaning). There are no trifles here. Strength? Yes, he has power. I suspect it will make short work of that kale smoothie that burned our 1970s blender. SHARP: Did I mention the blades are sharp? "Ninja". Spirit. I barely touched my finger with one when I washed it two days ago and it has just healed. Extreme caution when your children are washing dishes. ICE CREAM: My test was done with ice cream in one serving only. He doesn't break ice: he makes SNOW. More like "Hawaiian Shave Ice" than "Sno Cone". The CRUSH setting and use with liquids may produce different results. I'll try a pitcher of margaritas soon and will update the review once I'm sober. INSTRUCTIONS: Tells you how to assemble it briefly via suggestions for products to prepare. Yes, the lids and attachment to the base are a little awkward, but nothing that you can't get used to the third time around. USE FOR THE KITCHEN MAKER: Haven't tried it yet. This is a "chopper" - no cleavers/graters are included. **would be a nice feature** SUMMARY: Overkill? Probably. Its worth it? Probably. If you have $160 to buy a mixer/chopper this has to be the best there is. The default ninja was mentioned in Five TV Products Worth Watching, and I agree. For my needs (there were only 2 of us) I think a standard 9 cup jug is the LEAST useful, so getting that whole jug was a good idea.
