I have been using this dock for several weeks for three main tasks: NAS backup, disk cloning and new disk setup. First backup. I plugged it into the front of an older Infrant (Netgear) ReadyNAS Pro 6. Then, in the ReadyNAS software, I mounted the number of drives placed in the dock and used the NAS's built-in backup feature to create a backup job. save the contents of my NAS to some "spare" hard drives before a major NAS conversion project. Great success, this product worked well and allowed me to benefit from some of the old hard drives in the form of backup repositories. Second a clone. I totally failed the hardware column, but I can't discount the docking station as I don't really know what went wrong (yet). I installed a 2.5 HDD to clone to an SSD. (Changed switch on back of dock from PC to CLONE and rebooted). Before I could even insert my second drive (SSD target), the device started beeping continuously and wouldn't stop. This can be a feature or a bug. I couldn't stand the noise and stopped. I used this dock to clone my hard drive to SSD, but I did it with software. this dock on my desktop. It worked fine. I even used it with an IDE adapter sled to get some data from an older IDE. A good docking station all round, solid but doesn't feel bulletproof.
