Review on 40-inch Impact Foldable Beauty Dish by Nathan Barraclough

After using it for a while I see that this 40 inch version has some simple design flaws. 1: The fabric of the softbox is so tight that it's immediately clear why they break. You can easily lock 4 ribs, but as soon as you lock more, you will feel tension in the ribs. The last lock seems to break every time. I would just stick with 4 locks and never go over 6 locks if trying not to break anything in normal operation. This can be addressed by increasing the amount of material used to facilitate locking and reduce stress on the ribs and latches, which are primarily plastic/fiberglass. 2: They came with a drawstring closure for the back which makes it difficult to fit the 40" version as the size doesn't allow you to easily put your hand in the speed ring. This might be less of a problem on the smaller versions, but the Velcro flap on the back makes it a lot easier. The tip will never open wide enough. If you could put this up in a studio where it would essentially live like a metal beauty dish (never cover it up) it would be excellent value. As something you're going to implement, opening and closing, I can 100% see that these things won't last or will not be good in the long run without being very careful.
