40-inch Impact Foldable Beauty Dish Review

I like the idea of a nice clamshell plate and it's rated weight. But I don't like how the spokes come out when I open it and sometimes close it. Yes, I can replace them, but I'd rather not. I have other Impact elements and have no trouble with them, so the fact that this one is giving me trouble is frustrating. Mine broke on first use just as pictured but the company took good care of it and sent me a replacement. As it broke before I even hung it in the light I have my doubts it will last very long unless treated very lightly. I unrolled it and just carefully dropped it on the soft grass no more than 6 inches off the ground and leaned it against my stand. When I came back to pick it up one of the rods was broken. I've been using it outdoors, mostly for location shots, with a fairly solid heavy-duty tripod and a Flashpoint EXPLOR 600 HSS. zero complaints. My negative points are also not mentioned. Feels solid. After using it for a while I see that this 40 inch version has some simple design flaws. 1: The fabric of the softbox is so tight that it's immediately clear why they break. You can easily lock 4 ribs, but as soon as you lock more, you will feel tension in the ribs. The last lock seems to break every time.
