Review on 40-inch Impact Foldable Beauty Dish by Regina Contreras

This foldable beauty plate is a fantastic light converter. I was looking for a modifier that diffuses the light like a white reflective umbrella but is more focused. I also wanted the light modifier to be easy to use with my lightweight lighting kit which includes lightweight light stands. Well, this collapsible beauty plate is just the thing - it's lightweight and folds up small. The light spread is fantastic, 90% the same as a 40" white reflex umbrella, which has a much wider spread of light than photography. This is ideal for small group shots. Although it has deeper shadows than the 40 inch reflex screen I compared it to, I like the quality of the shadows from this beauty dish better. The shadows have a very soft edge, which I really like. I use it with a flash (Li-Ion Flashpoint Zoom) that attaches to the modifier with a Phottix Varos two-speed adapter and Bowens mount. There are other adapters for Bowens flashes, but I like the knob for quickly turning light modifiers on and off instead of fiddling with a screw. In addition to using the Flash Diffuser Plate, I also use a Flash Diffuser similar to the Stofen Omni Reflector. Flash reduced to 24mm. All this scattering results in an even spread of light. This Impact Folding Vanity Plate is well made with high quality materials and works well for both individual portraits and small groups.
