The dress is beautiful. I bought this to use on a Queen of Hearts costume for a murder/mystery party I was attending and it would be absolutely perfect. The red fabric is cotton, not thick but not see-through either. It wrinkled very easily. The ribbon is satin and beautiful. I'm usually 14/16 so I ordered 2XL as per the size chart and thinking it would be a bit small. It just fits perfectly and the back has an elastic insert so it has some flexibility. I tried the dress on twice before the day I was going to wear it: once to make sure it fit me and the second time because the socks I bought for my suit arrived and I make sure wanted them to fit. Both times I put it on by pulling it over my head and it was comfortable, not loose but not particularly tight either. On the day of the party I would unzip it to put on as my hair and makeup was already gone, to zip it up the zipper went all 1.5 inches before it broke. It was still in the flared part before the dress tapered! The zipper is one of those annoying, hard-to-close 'hidden zippers' on the side that many dresses have, and upon closer inspection we realized it was plastic, not metal. We fiddled with it but there was no way to fix it, we could unzip it and then tried to zip it up again and the zipped part wouldn't stay together anymore. The moral of the story is that I think you could do the dress work, but you should only do it if you can pull the dress over your head. Under no circumstances can I recommend you to use the zipper as I really don't think it will hold up even if you can close and open it a few times.
