Review on πŸ”’ ABUS Wheel Lock Nutfix Quick Release Pair Skewers (100f/135r) with Wheel Lock by Patrick Cooney

Compared to other lockable skewers like Pinhead or Pitlocks

Compared to other lockable skewers like Pinhead or Pitlocks I liked that they don't require a special key - special keys get lost and if you have multiple bikes or mismatched locks on the same bike (e.g. if you buy skewers first and then add a seatpost locknut) you will have to deal with multiple keys. All it takes is an 8mm open ended wrench already in my bike multi-tool. You can also easily buy additional keys for $5-10. I bought them mainly for the front wheel lock. I use a U-lock to lock the frame and (depending on the trunk) I can usually secure the rear wheel with the same lock (Sheldon Brown style rear triangle lock). To secure the front wheel, however, I usually needed another lock. I've used the Kryptonite Kryptoflex cable before and it works great, but I hated carrying it around. I can also secure it with these wheel locks, but I only have to carry a U-lock with me. They also look cool and you can get them in multiple colors (I think there are six colors but many places only have two or three).
