I really don't see what you can go wrong with this station given the price. The quality and performance is far beyond what I expected. I have used production quality professional desoldering stations and fully understood that they were not designed for such rigorous use when I received them. This is a hobby level machine that works great in this application. Essentially, this means that you should keep an eye on cleaning and maintenance. But I was able to easily remove a few DIP chips and even fat lead components on the very first use. You need to clean the filter and spring after each use and it's very simple. I haven't had any clogs, but I do do a wire cleaning from time to time just to prevent them. Even professional desoldering tools get clogged from time to time. The main unit is heavier than expected and sits firmly on the bench. I'm not sure why everyone is pointing out that the faceplate is plastic, as almost every soldering/desoldering station these days has faceplates made of plastic. The gun's sight tube is real glass and lets you see when the filter is filling. The LCD is great, the buttons are a bit stiff, but that's not a problem. It is displayed in degrees C or F and has non-volatile memory that retains all settings when the device is switched off. All in all no complaints for $129, I'm very satisfied.
