I have tried both this and the original VUP treadmill (which is still on sale). The main difference is the ability to detach the phone while it remains in the holder. This is handy at times, but requires significant effort to align the slots and rotate 90 degrees when pressed. (I was imagining something like a very strong magnet, but it's not.) So I usually have to pause my run to turn it on or off. After all, it's enough of an effort that I don't pick up my phone unless I really need to use it more intensively - not as pleasant to work with as I had imagined. A new detachable feature makes the rotating base thicker than the original VUP. , so the phone is further away from your hand. I was concerned that this might lead to more bounce when running, but haven't noticed it yet. The AirPod holder is good, fits securely. My AirPods are usually in my ears while I'm running, so it's not really a very important feature, but it's handy for holding AirPods just before or after a run. If you really don't need the phone ejection feature, I'd recommend getting the original VUP strap instead. Overall, the rubber band feature on both VUP models is really good - much better than trying to operate the phone's touchscreen through a plastic cover. Some reviewers have expressed concern that the rubber strap might break, but that hasn't happened to me in 50 runs - it feels solid and very reliable.
