I was very surprised by this drill. Due to the low price, I thought it would be an all-purpose tool. But it turned out that this is a good universal drill. I like the auto-detect feature to set the screws flush with the surface. I've tried different types of screws (wood, pan head, self-tapping, etc.) in both softwood (pine) and hardwood (walnut). And it worked well in all cases. On most attempts, he drove the screw flush and stopped. On the two occasions it didn't screw flush when stopped, holding down the trigger brought the screw to flush with simple turns. I also liked the top display that shows the battery status. I have DeWalt, Makita, Rigid, and Ryobi 20 volt drills and their battery status indicators are on the battery. To do this, stop the drill and rotate it up. Then you have to press the button on the battery to see the charge level. The B&D drill has a unique loading indicator in the upper right corner behind the selection buttons that control the selection of the drill function or the screw functions (this is the one that activates the flush sensor). I've often found that with my other drills I've been busy using the drill and haven't stopped often enough to check the battery health. This often meant that the "low" warning was due to the drill slowing down. It's not good for a battery (even a lithium-ion battery) to discharge almost completely. The B&D display is always visible, making it much easier to swap out before it gets too low.
