Our son loves to buy Halloween superhero pajamas because the fabric is very comfortable and he can wear them all year round. His 8th birthday is on New Year's Day and the pajamas have fitted well for the last two months but won't last this winter. He has a slim build with fairly long limbs and is 51 inches tall and tall. They are slim and feature a Spiderman-style spandex aesthetic. So if your child has a more toned build, I would go at least one size up.
