The indicators face down when you check the plug when it is plugged in.

I didn't like that the headlight configuration isn't on both sides so it's more universal. Now my truck is a GMC and when you plug it into the socket the 7 pin is up and the 4 pin is down. When you connect to one of them, the tester looks down. Disappointing but still usable.
