I was so happy to get these bowls and tried really hard to like them. However, I find myself saying words that I shouldn't use every time I use them (except when tossing a salad). These are mixing bowls. I mix a lot. I often grind wheat and bake for my family. (Not really a problem, but it's worth noting that the first set I ordered arrived with a defect in the black part of the base handle. I just sent it back and ordered another set.) So here's the problem . The bowls have a wide rim. They expand outward at the top. I think this is bad design for several reasons. Wide rims are terrible for breaking eggs (I break eggs on the side of the bowl). There's a small spot near the spout that's thinner and fit for the task, but forget about it elsewhere. I also find that the bowls are too wide and too flat, but the bulge at the top is probably to blame. but every time I mix flour it goes everywhere. The sides should be straight, not flared. I've found that I have to be very careful, but inevitably everything I mix is poured not just once, but multiple times. It's too frustrating. These bowls are very easy to clean and both sizes are good except for the flared rim and an inch too small.
