Edit: light suddenly works after a year without warning. One day they worked, the next they didn't. The mirror was also connected to the wall, so it wasn't the battery. Before I bought this mirror, I put a TV stand in front of a window and put a small mirror on top of the box to do my makeup. Every time I moved my feet and squeezed the TV tray too hard, I would drop my makeup and brushes. Due to the poor lighting in my bedroom, I could only apply makeup during the day. However, this mirror is amazing. It's brighter than ever in front of a window with my impromptu setup, and I can now set it up at my desk, with plenty of room for an eyeshadow palette that no longer needs to hang from the edge of a surface or balance on my leg. I was worried the lights wouldn't be bright enough, but they definitely are. At full brightness it even hurt my eyes a little (I'm sensitive to light). So if you have any doubts I assure you this mirror is great.
