Boils water up to 1.7 liters of water in 5 minutes from the moment you place it on the base. (not exactly 2 liters). I have found that to be on the safe side it is for you to fill it out completely. It squirts out and burns you. It is save. The blue light at the bottom lights up during cooking and goes out when the pot is switched off. I boil 2 pots of water and pour it into my 4 liter Rubber Maid, a pitcher with tea bags to infuse. I ended up with about 1 gallon of concentrated tea liquid that I dilute as I drink. All in a maximum of 15 minutes. It used to take 2 or 3 hours when using large pots and pans. I love ice tea and can't drink coke (due to stomach issues) so this is a life saver. It's nice. Compact. Inexpensive. You will want it. Especially if you only boil water for cereal or hot tea or coffee etc. Cleaning instructions are included. (Soak in vinegar, rinse and repeat x2.)
