Review on Ford 9L8Z 3511 A Housing by Jonathan Lamp

Fits perfectly on my 2008 Mercury Mariner base despite what Revane says. I was hoping I could remove and replace the old case without removing the steering wheel because I didn't want to go through all the extra steps. I'm happy to report that I succeeded. It's not that heavy, it's just difficult to realign after taking it off. You will need: Flat head screwdriver or similar to remove the trim around the steering column. Also used to remove a solder stud. Used to remove existing lock cylinders. Nut 5.5mm or 7/32. Should be short and allow penetration into small spaces. remove panels. Disconnect all electrical devices. Remove the 3 screws that secure the case. Use a dremel to cut a slot in the screw. Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the screw. It may take a few minutes to try, don't try to force anything, it WILL work. You don't want to damage anything here. Remove the cover around the ignition cylinder if you haven't already done so and place it on a new one. Use your key and turn the ignition to the first position (accessory I think). Use the lockpick to push and pull out the cylinder release. Use a flat top or similar on the new housing to match the inside of the cylinder housing to the old one. Otherwise the cylinder will not fit. To reinstall it, follow the steps in reverse order. Tips * Unlock and lock the steering wheel height adjustment to make some parts easier to work with.
