Havahart makes a difference when used properly

The Havahart Remote Trainer is an electronic training device designed to control dog misbehavior. Whether it's barking, chewing, jumping on people or anything else, this device tries to bring the behavior under control. The principle of operation of this device is quite simple. You put a collar on your dog, pick up a handheld device, choose one of five stimulus levels with tone or tone only, and wait for your dog to misbehave. If your dog is doing something you don't like, push a button. The collar then sends a shock to your dog and beeps. The idea, of course, is to get your dog to relate the problems to their misbehavior and eventually stop the misbehavior. So does it work? Well, yes and no, but part of the potential problem is that many dog owners expect this exerciser to do it all; quick push-button remediation of misconduct that has been going on for a long time. If that's your expectation, it may or may not work. Yes, the dog will feel the shocks and hear the sound, and most dogs will understand that they need to stop what they are doing. But with other dogs it may not work at all. The best way to ensure it works most of the time is to train your dog the old fashioned way and then use this device. I should note that Havahart explains this in the instructions, but many buyers will ignore this and use the device with the expectation of miracles. If you train your dog first and then put the collar on, you should have good results. My dog is smaller - he weighs about 25 pounds - and this device has worked well and successfully kicked some bad habits out of her like incessant barking and chewing on shoes and other objects. I have found that shock therapy is not really necessary after a short time. He now associates the sound of the tone with a signal to stop what he is doing. That's a good thing because I have to admit I'm a little concerned about using shocks and I can understand why some dog owners wouldn't like this feature at all. But the good news is that you don't have to use the shock - you can just select the tone and rely on the uncomfortable sound to correct your dog's behavior. This dog training device seems to be working, but I still have a few questions. Removing the battery cover takes too much force and the portable device feels very cheap. It seems only a matter of time before it breaks. The flimsy design makes me question the price, but I believe if it works well enough to stop bad behavior, most will consider it a good investment. Dogs are prone to misbehavior and the Havahart Remote Trainer does a good job of addressing these issues. As long as you work with your dog first, and then start the trainer, you should have good results. Some dog owners may be plagued by electrocution, so I recommend using them sparingly and then quickly switching to tone-only training for a more humane workout. Use as directed and you will be on your way to a better behaved dog.
