MUST protect your hard drive-- I'm a photographer and before I had this hard case I would have had to pass a new external hard drive as mine almost every 6 months The hard drive in my backpack, my handbag or my computer case was repeatedly damaged. I've even bought "protected" hard drives that always seemed to wear out with daily use. I take my hard drive with me everywhere.
