I'll start by saying I've been working on printers and copiers for 20 years. I chose the Canon printer for both its features and the availability of third-party toner cartridges. When my regular cartridges finally ran out, I decided on them based on the reviews. They had been sitting in my printer for about a year and I was using about 60% of the toner when we noticed streaks on the sides of the pages. Not bad but I knew it was going to get worse so I ordered another set of cartridges. For me, a year and more than half of the life of the toner cartridge before the cleaning blades fail is more than acceptable. The whole cartridge set costs less than half of 1 Canon cartridge - it's worth it!
