The kittens say it's a cat's meow. Owner Says No.

Update (March 18, 2016) After owning this scratching post for two and a half years I wanted to give an update specifically what had happened to me Fear of - two posts broke off. The first (bottom post/bar on the left) broke off last summer and the second (bottom post/bar on the right) broke off at the bottom of the post last week. Not sure how the first one broke but the second broke after my cat jumped on it. It came loose and I tightened it as best I could but to no avail. It's a cute scratching post, but you'll have to decide if it's worth the price if it breaks within three years. Original review (08/31/2013) My cats absolutely love this scratching post. from them. I have four different sized cat trees and this is one of their favorites. The cat's mother disagrees. Although it is a beautiful tree, the upper perches are unstable, especially the tall ones. There is no way to tighten the screws tighter than mine. Not sure if it is due to the equipment used or the narrow long pillar the perches sit on. I have doubts about the long-term stability of perches. The only saving grace I left for this tree is that it rests on a bay window, so it can't move too far (and cats can't use it as a climbing frame). It was easy to assemble. Instructions seemed easy and probably completed in less than half an hour with one person. Medium sized cat houses. My 10-12 pound cats don't use them often, but every once in a while I see one of them pass out in the house. The tree is not covered with a carpet, it is more like a fur fabric. . It should also be noted that the sisal rope used is narrow as opposed to the rope used for other trees (which is thicker). My cats seem to prefer to hold on to the heavier rope on my other scratching posts than the sturdier rope on this one, but I readily admit that they may not be able to hold on to it because it's in the bay window. .If I were to buy another scratching post, it wouldn't be this one.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other alternatives
