While there are a couple of areas that could use improvement, the lunchbox works quite well.The lunchbox comes with an insulated carry case that has an interior net pocket. The box itself is plastic and houses the heating plate.There are separate ports for connecting the AC or DC cable. A light illuminates next to the port in use.The food tray has two compartments that both will be heated when in use - I did not measure the amount each holds. The portions are an average size that will let you have a small protein and a medium vegetable or starch.Plugged in this thing heats quickly. It hits a warming temp after about 30 min.To test the ability of cooking items from scratch, I plugged in using the AC cable.I added rice to one side and pasta to the other and then added water. Everything was ready to eat in less than 40 minutes. I repeated the test using the 12v DC cable and has the same results.The instructions…need work. If I followed the instructions I might have accidentally added water to the plastic box containing the heating tray and ruined this device. Be aware that no liquid goes under the food tray. You CAN add water to the food tray.The storage bag is a nice touch but is for storage and transport only. There is no flap for connecting the cables to the cooking box while it’s in the bag. Additionally, the main lid is the one that has steam vents and stores the included utensils. The outer lid is not supposed to be used while cooking.The included utensils are basic but functional - a fork and a spoon. There is no knife.For the going price average of $40 - you can find other options with more features but this one is not a bad choice.
