The motion detector hardly serves a purpose as it doesn't detect any movement until you crawl right underneath or open my screen door, even then sometimes it doesn't blink at all? But as explained in other reviews, the real camera definitely does not flash! So in my opinion you don't need to spend anything extra for this option, if I could give no star for this feature I would! Yes, they are pretty easy to install. But this guide doesn't explain that you have to press/click on the dome to activate the movement function? But I haven't forgotten because I bought a similar one elsewhere, again with the same problem? Don't worry about the battery life because it hardly ever flickers anyway, even though I swap out all my battery-powered devices every year.
