I tore a tendon in my right ankle 30 years ago (I was told it broke off the ankle and then snapped back into the bone - the pain was excruciating). After that, my ankle was never the same. This McDavid Ice Pack is the SMARTEST help I've ever come across. The ice pack fits right over the damaged area and the Velcro bandage keeps it right over the damaged area. Another ice pack isn't essential (at least for me), but it reflects body heat, so it's also very useful. Actually I just want to warm up the injured area, I just put this bandage on without filling the ice pack reservoir. It's certainly not an ice pack I can walk in, but who REALLY walks with an ankle ice pack on? It's comfortable when I wear it and all I do is go to bed and support my aching leg with this backpack. I usually just go to sleep. Cooling takes several hours. Probably more time than it takes me to cool my ankle, but it's very comforting. However, this ice pack is durable, fits very well, provides healing/cooling and is more than worth the price. Everything looks solid, durable and should last a long time.
