Review on Locate Cables with Ease – Greenlee 501 Tracker Cable Locator by Raymond Iglesias

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Simple tracker with reasonable expectations

While this is a good basic kit I gave it a try but ended up buying a Ridgid Navitrack 2 tracker, a SeeSnake CS6 Pak, a Ridgid Brick transmitter and a 4 inch Seek Tech inductive coil for my professional use. needs assessment. Sure, it's a lot more expensive, but it's multitasking and does it VERY well. While that doesn't detract from this Greenlee locator, it's not nearly as useful, albeit a lot cheaper. This seems to work for some users/reviewers with certain basics, it doesn't work for my gear as I need a precise, accurate depth in feet and inches. ), this won't give you an exact depth unless what you're specifying is already an essentially known/constant depth. For complex, rotating sites (gas, power, sewer, etc.) I would recommend something more expensive, larger, and complex that also detects common AC voltages (e.g. live underground cables), but can also be used for locating beacons, for example. sewage pipes. Anyway, that's what I did after purchasing (and returning) this Greenlee locator. If you just need to find a wire/pipe this might help.
