I'd say I have some decent mid-fi components. Audiolab 6000A built-in amplifier, Project Debut Carbon DC TT, Ascend Acoustics Sierra 2 EX speakers. I wanted to see how much accuracy I could get out of my player with some upgrades. So I bought an Orthofon bronze pickup, a Project acrylic disc and a Tube Box S2 preamp. I used to use a phono stage on my integrated amp, which sounded good, but I wanted more. I can't rate the Tube Box S2 separately as I made this change at the same time. But I can say that these updates combined have greatly improved my system. What I hear is more detail, a smooth, spacious soundstage with enhanced highs, mids and lows. In short I am very impressed and happy with my purchase. The lamp box looks very cool at night with the blue LEDs and tubes glowing in low light. It looks great next to my turntable. My wife thinks it's cool too and has definitely noticed an improvement in sound quality.
