These are styrofoam balls designed to be thrown with no chance of hurting anyone, breaking any window or pride. I received a four pack of different colors as shown in the picture. They're slightly larger than a regular baseball and fairly soft. I have no conclusions as to why they are considered too hard because they are as soft as anything I know. Build quality is good, but they don't feel strong enough to throw at concrete or at a baseball field as the outside is just a plastic coating. In terms of weight, they are good enough for children to learn to throw without much of a chance. hurt yourself or others and I think it's helpful. Learning how to meet them can be a little tricky, but okay. Overall it's good value for money and it's a beautifully finished item. I use them to rehabilitate a sore hand and teach throwing moves. Works well.
