Monitors have to be turned off if you want to raise or lower them as I unscrewed the hex screw (knob would work great) and all as long as it is suspended, it sinks and cannot be raised again. If you are using monitors of a different brand and/or size, they will not match. I have LG 32 and Samsung 31.5. They use different VESA holes so I had to buy a 13th adapter for one. THEN, as the mounting holes are in different locations on the monitor, they do not sit evenly next to each other and this stand CANNOT be adjusted as the monitors are mounted on the SAME arm. So you can ONLY lower or raise BOTH at the same time.
