Buy the right length!

Our travel trailer has 34" spacing between attachment points (trailer-to-truck switch). I'm glad we went with the 6 inch version over the 4 inch version. "Distance lengthens the spool by 47%. The 4" version would be 71% longer. The tension provided in the spool is well designed as there is almost no slack in the cable even when stretched to less than half its capacity. Judging by how it really works for us, I think we made the right choice. With this in mind, the marketing department could better describe the best operating areas of the cables they sell. However, the recommendations on the length of cable to buy are minimal and rely on the customer's guesswork. If you're trying to decide, I recommend going for a longer one, not a shorter one.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Operating speed
