Although I bought this for a tablet, I also found it to be the perfect size and design for my Samsung Note phone. As you can see from the photo it felt perfectly in the hands and didn't really protrude from left to right. It definitely folds well, feels heavy and has a nice clean design. The only issue I had was stiffness when trying to increase the height of the stand. It was so tight initially that I thought I might accidentally break it while trying to pull it out the first time. After it expanded I just raised and lowered it 15 or 20 times to loosen it up a bit and now it stretches and closes easily. Maybe a little oil dripping from each side can make things a little easier at first, but you definitely don't want it to be too loose or it could slide off a heavier device like a large tablet. It's definitely value for money for those looking for a compact travel solution.
